I think I would've liked this more if I remembered the first wo books at all. I kinda remember the first one, but not by much. That and this book is set about 300? years after the second book. I think.
I love the unique dialect for both koli and spinner. I like that nonblack characters are described physically. A lot of the time characters who aren't white are specifically described physically or otherwise, while white characters are, which is otherizing. I cant recall the book which specifically done this as well.
I didn't really care for Spinner's section of the story. I am glad it's included so it's not just 'MC comes to ave the day, woo!'.
Kinda hated the ending but I get how Koli, et al's, stories were intended to conclude considering the entire plot. I liked it, I wish themisgendering wasn't included at the very end even if there's an in universe reason for that. Like I guess I get how Stanley Banner was now a part of Koli and how it can't be separated at that point. Plus I think there is some solidness to how you simply can't magic / wish / defeat away fascism. It was literally stated in the story that it comes and goes and you need to be vigilant about it. Which makes sense why Banner is a part of Koli, even into the end. That way Kli understands and can help Monono guard against that in the future. I mean, imo, that's not really stated outright or implied.
Though Iโm still digesting how the trans characterโs arc ended. So shedetransitioned? idk I think I need to go back and read a lot slower than I was. Iโm glad she had children and a happy ending where she didnโt die though.
