This was unfortunately a disappointing set of short stories. This book was described as young adult horror collection in the summary yet these all seemed more like urban fantasy, paranormal, or magic realism more than horror. Which I could have enjoyed as I like all those genres, but I went in looking for horror. Not to say that any of the ideas behind these stories couldn’t have made good horror either, because they definitely could have. However, that was not how a majority of them read. Not only that, but few of the stories seem well suited to short fiction and really need longer page time to work. Despite  my mostly negative feelings I did enjoy a few of the stories and will look up the authors other work. Especially, Trang Thanh Tran whose debut novel got pushed up my tbr. As not only did I enjoy the author’s story it was the only story in this collection that I would even really classify as horror.
