This was an astonishingly well written collection of fiction and nonfiction that had me emotional, laughing, and shocked at turns. I found the fiction to be more powerful than the nonfiction, and the first story to be the standout of them all, which made me wish it had been placed closer to the end. It set a high bar right out of the gate, but really there were excellent pieces throughout. At times I saw my experience portrayed, and at others was new to the language and rituals beings described, which made for a good balance. All in all one of the better books I've read this year, and certainly one of the best collections I've read in a long time.
