This is a cute book. The story itself is a little lacking. The thing I enjoyed most was learning and being exposed to all genres of music. Frank’s mother taught him so much, which in turn, taught me quite a lot. I updated and created new playlists because of this exact book. So thank you very much, Ms. Joyce!
This is a sweet, heartfelt, feel-good read. I loved this motley cast of characters centered around a failing record shop on a quiet, shabby British street in 1988. (Kit is the best! And the waitress at the cafe!) The Music Shop has a lot to say about the need for community. If you’re a music lover you will enjoy this. I haven’t felt this invested and entertained by a book in a while. Now I’m going to have to check out the rest of Joyce’s novels.

Sweet. Sweet. Sweet. I would shop at Frank's Records. Maybe I'll ask Brad to play something on vinyl for me soon.

Kit is a member of the National Philatelic Society. Yes! Add a mention of foolscap paper. Got it!

Really loved this. Great character development. I cried at the end. And I loved the history and descriptions of music. I also loved the use of silence in this book. How they seemed most in love when they were silent just near each other. How hearing the music in someone often starts with silence, what's missing. The silence between notes, the pregnant pause.
