Spectacular give me 14 of them right now ‼️‼️‼️

Studio Ghibli and Soul meet The Midnight Library and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue — whimsical, beautiful, enchanting, mystifying.

Super easy and quick read 😊  Not to be that person but I need this as a show or movie, the visuals would be AMAZING

A whimsical, Studio Ghibli vibe throughout. The world-building was descriptive enough that I could picture everything. The writing was lyrical. I did think the characters and their growth could’ve been more fleshed out and their development more poignant. I feel it could have had more adult themes when it came to development. I also deducted points for it being insta-love. It happened way too quickly without any build or struggle which made this, along with not enough risk taken for character development, feel more YA than adult. I also thing climax and main conflict could’ve been more fleshed out given how it was so centered throughout the plot. A lot happened off page.

Overall, did really enjoy this book. It was magical.

It took a while for me to get into the story. The style was strange to me, and it was hard to connect with the characters at first. By the end, it was worth it. The narrative was beautifully woven overall, and I finished the book with tears.

This book feels so alive and sparkly! It’s the first one to make me cry this year, both happy and sad tears. Highly recommend reading it, especially with some Ghibli instrumental in the background.

Endings and beginnings are the same point in time.

Water Moon is a pastel dream: a pawn shop hidden in a ramen restaurant that trades regrets for tea, a silver moon reflected in the water of a pond that takes you to another world, a night market in the clouds and a museum of fluttering origami cranes. Every moment felt precious, something I wanted to hold close even after the last page.

Yambao weaved and gives poignant thoughts and truths about life, existence, and what it means to live mortally through the lens of Hana and Keishin’s journey through a magical other world. It’s bittersweet and sometimes almost melancholy, but always always soft and whimsical.

I loved this book so much, it already holds a special place in my heart and is one worth rereading.
