While I did enjoy the second installment in this series, I found myself disappointed by it in a major way. Book 1 really shone in its focus on the setting, Ellie & Adam's dynamic, and of course the overarching mystery. This time around, there were far too many characters and subplots happening where I did not feel immersed in the setting at all (a hugely missed opportunity) and the lack of focus on Ellie and Adam was frankly surprising and almost turned me off entirely. As a result, it ended up feeling rushed to me. I will still be reading book 3 and hoping for the best!

An action-packed sequel that made me fall even more in love with this series. The addition of more side characters and points of view, really helped to balance out the story well. There was even more adventure, and a little less romance than the first book. But the relationships between all of the characters was developed naturally and the main historical mystery at the center of the plot really shined. I can’t wait for the next book!
