An alien club? I guess Manga is not for me.

Since this is the first volume, I gave it a bit more leeway when it came to my rating. Most of this issue is devoted to exposition with very little actual plot. The storyline seems interesting and I want to see where it goes in the next issue.
Since I haven't seen the anime, I can't compare the two so I will have to check out the anime on Netflix.
Overall, I would recommend that you pick this up at your local library.

As some of you may know this series is currently holding a rank among the top sold light novels. There is a reason for that, this is a unique approach to science fiction/slice of life genre with a rollercoaster of character development. The story revolves around a student club called the sos brigade and Haruhi Suzumiya. It should be noted that the story is told from the point of view of one of the club members named Kyon. He is an interesting character and his interactions with Haruhi kept me entertained. Haruhi as a character might not be well perceived by some due to her behavior and attitude towards others. I usually don't advise age warnings to people but it is advised that readers are age 16 or older. That being said there are moments of sexual behavior and suggestive themes. Overall I enjoyed volume one and will continue the series when I get a chance.
