I'm not crying, you're crying...

I need more chocolate and wine and then absolutely more chocolate and then perhaps one more glass of wine...the ending so bittersweet and I'm happy and sad and all of the emotions because not only is this the end of the Fluke gang, but Oliver and Piper were the absolute BEST!!

Ollie is the heart of the group, the big thinker, the man behind Warriors of Easton. Sure Dax brings Ollie's ideas to life, Aiden knows how to market those ideas, Cam makes sure to trademark them so they stay his ideas and Grant handles all of the icky business that makes Ollie itch just thinking about it. The men of Fluke Inc. are a well oiled machine, but honestly since his best friends all have found other interests and the loves of their lives Ollie has been searching for his next big idea and Piper, his assistant, isn't happy about it. She would prefer that he not only use his big heart to fall in love with her, but also use his big brain on the right big idea.

Piper has been in love with Ollie for the past two years, but she is at her wit's end. She knows that Ollie gets lost in his head with all of his big ideas, but she'd like for just once to have his head thinking about her. When she reaches her breaking point with unicorn snot (not literal snot, but soda) so she quits as his assistant. It may not be what she wants, since she actually is in love with him, but it's what she needs for her own sanity because love never said it was agreed to be sane with her.

Finally having time to herself, it allows Piper to focus on her own big idea, but low and behold, Ollie follows her out into the woods and agrees to spend two weeks with her, actually getting to know Piper outside of the office. He's hoping to win her back, love free, as his assistant, but perhaps he's forgetting just how persistent Piper can be. I also think he's forgetting just how adorable and loveable he truly is because as much as he tries to tell her all of his faults, (hello! Piper already knows him pretty well), he forgets that he's the heart and not loving him is basically impossible.

Gimme S'more is so much more than two people who have been working together falling in love. Ollie is a big pile of mushy, gushy unorganized sweetness. He reminds me so much of one of my daughters, full of creativity, and a huge smile, but couldn't remember where she set her happy meal two seconds ago or her homework within her own backpack. I have loved each of men in this series, but Ollie will certainly hold a special place in my heart.

Piper is the perfect person to fill the cracks in Ollie's life and vice versa. They are the yin and yang to each other in every perfect way. This story is full of friendship and emotion, finding the strength within yourself and leaning on those who believe in you. It's a beautiful story, I truly loved it and hated for it to end.

I fell in love with Appleby and each of the men that came to the small town and I'm not going to lie, I'm going to miss it, but perhaps Erin will give us glimpses into the Iowa life with some of the townspeople who live there...please.

Friends-to-lovers...yes, but also boss-and-assistant to lovers story!

Piper leaves her position as Oliver’s assistant after she realizes she’s in love with him but he doesn’t see her as anything more than an assistant. After 5 years of working closely with him, she gives her notice and heads back to her real, off-work life, which, as it turns out, involves something Oliver never knew about her.

Soon, they’re spending time together, but not as boss and assistant, rather, as friends. Their long shared history does give them immediately familiarity...or does it? Is Piper the person he’s seen at work day in and day out for 5 years or is there more? And for Piper, what is Oliver like when he’s just...being Oliver, instead of being her boss?

A refreshing, uplifting love story!

PS: great supporting characters too from other stores in this series!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

What an amazing ending to a fantastic series. Piper and Ollie are my favorite couple in Appleby.

When Ollie has something to focus on, amazing things happen and when Piper becomes his focus, the heat and chemistry is off the charts.

Piper and Ollie work so well together. Their strengths compliment each other’s to make an amazing team.

I will forever read anything Ms. Nicholas writes.

This was a really good read! The writing flowed well from start to finish, and I loved Ollie and Piper together! Everyone but Ollie knew that Piper had feelings for him, and I was happy to see Piper just put that out there instead of dancing around it. Ollie had some catching up to do, but it didn't take him long to realize that he had been suppressing his feelings for Piper. I loved that they realized they could be just what the other needed without changing anything about the other. I felt so bad for Ollie that he wouldn't get close to people because of the way his childhood was. I REALLY wish there was some kind of happy ending with that. Piper helped him see that she didn't feel that way about him, and Ollie was able to see that was true. The ending was VERY sweet, and perfect for this group of friends. The only thing that I felt was missing was an epilogue to see how everything played out. I would love a novella to see how all of the friends are doing!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

I have been waiting for Piper and Ollie's story since the first book and it did not disappoint. It was also completely unexpected (in the best way)! I don't want to spoil anything so I will just say it is my favorite of the Hot Cakes series and I am sad it is over!

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

If you’ve read any of Erin Nicholas’s Hot Cakes series, you know about Piper and Oliver. As each of the other Hot Cakes’ guys and gals found their happy endings, Piper and Oliver’s attraction for each other has grown in the periphery. I have been waiting for Gimme S’more because Piper, as a heroine, is interesting, independent, and protective of the guys of Hot Cakes. Her larger than life characterization has intrigued me from the first book of the series. Pair her with the creative genius of the Warriors of Easton, the playboyish, flighty, intelligent Oliver, and you have romance gold. I knew that Erin Nicholas had saved the best for last, and I wasn’t wrong.

I have liked the other books in the Hot Cakes series to a varying degree. I do believe that Erin Nicholas has a style that oftentimes repeats itself in the course of the elaboration of her story. That is still the case with Gimme S’more. However, where it felt overly redundant in the earlier books, in this book, it underscores nicely the main struggle between her hero and heroine. Piper (along with the other Hot Cakes guys) have always viewed Oliver as a genius flibbertigibbet. They take him seriously to an extent, and Oliver’s friends and partners have used Piper to reign in Oliver’s creativity. What is profound about this story is, as Piper acknowledges her attraction and love of Oliver, something that distresses him, she recognizes, that in being buoyed by the other guys of Hot Cakes to reign in Oliver, she is, in essence, failing to fully understand and accept him as he is. This revelation adds gravity to this series that has been vacant in the other stories. Just like the earlier books in this series, Nicholas builds these great moments of witty banter between her hero and heroine. She incorporates their own dessert into their $exy times. All of the lightheartednesses that prevails in the other books is also in Gimme S’more. However, Oliver’s recognition of Piper’s interest in him and his eventual acceptance of it, along with Piper’s understanding about the part she plays in his life, adds a depth to this book and the series that had been lacking. I loved Piper and Oliver’s story, as I knew I would because it’s witty, charming, and compelling. Oliver’s utter lack of confusion over Piper’s interest and adoration of him make for some of the best parts of this book. Yet, it’s the end that makes for the best spectacle, and you will find yourself ending this series with a big happy sigh.

I am thankful that Erin Nicholas saved Oliver and Piper until the end. Her adept plotting of this series illustrates her talent in writing meaningful, yet fun series. I am hoping that we might see this crew in the periphery of future series because it wasn’t easy to leave them at the end of Gimme S’more.

Sweet, steamy and full of emotion, Gimme S’More was a fantastic ending to the Hot Cakes series. I have been eagerly anticipating Ollie and Piper’s story since book 1 and Erin did not disappoint!

In typical Erin Nicholas fashion, this story packs humor, heat and all the emotions into one beautiful package. I have loved this fun and fabulous series, and it is bittersweet that it is over.
