Honestly this was kind of worse than I could have ever imagined. But at the same time, I had a great time with it. The characters were each grating and irritating in their own ways but It was wilding entertaining to listen to. Also side note, this is the very first audiobook i have listened to in full! Woooo!! I think i prefer listening to them on Spotify despite it being a slight scam. I don’t listen to enough audiobooks to reach 15 hours a month anyway so I’ll probably be fine.
Anyway. Belly is someone even more annoying and self centered than she is on the show. Jeremiah is more likable too so far. Conrad is as broody as ever. Honestly I thought he did not like Belly at all that whole entire time. Author didn’t really do a great job of dropping hints abt the brothers feelings for Belly.
Also, belly is a as slut shaming Taylor so much. Poor Taylor, they did her so dirty in this book. She actually sucks. But no need to slut shame.
Was the writing very good? No. Were the characters? No. But I was in Cuba and I couldn’t fall asleep so any port in the storm. Unsure if I will listen to the others. Maybe while I’m working out or something I will. (if i ever do that again)

i’ve been obsessing over the show and i read this a while ago (bc i wanted to prepare for the show but i didn’t even watch until last month) and i found out that the audiobook is read by lola tung and i need a way to continue my obsession so i read it! i LOVE conrad and need more time w bae and i know it’s kind of hard for everyone so im looking forward to his growth and belly’s bc i also dont want to be reading about a 16 year old when im not 16

The Summer I Turned Pretty obviously isn’t great literature, and I knew that going in. But as a light, seasonal palate cleanser, it delivered exactly what I wanted — nostalgia, romance, and an easy, breezy read between heavier books. Very cute.
