A stellar, biblical, gospel-focused devotional. You know when a devotional cuts to your heart and soul day after day that the author was a godly man. I think this could speak to any Christian, new, experienced, young, old, different denominations. I hadn't heard of Paul Tripp until I heard some quotes from this and thought it sounded great. The rest of it is also great!

One of the BEST devotional books ever! I share these devotions often with my students. I've highlighted so much good stuff & plan to re-read often. So I'm rating this book, but I am not planning to be done with it for quite some time . . .

This is the best devotional I've yet to read. Each day's read is brief enough to be accommodating to my lifestyle as a busy mom, yet still packed full of truth and thought-provoking content. Every day it felt like exactly what I needed to read because it's all straight from the Bible, the Living Word. He does share personal thoughts and challenges, but it's not a book filled with himself. It's straight Bible application. And each day has scripture passages listed to help you delve deeper into those thoughts on your own. This book is so Gospel-focused. It was a huge help to me this year. I've given this book as a gift and I'm sure I will again, in addition to a certain reread myself some day.

3 stars because there were a few "aha" moments as I was reading which gave me good things to consider.
However, this wasn't my favorite book. The devotionals often felt repetitive, and I had some trouble following the writing style. Many of the days were written like, "It's the one thing we need most. It's the thing that changes everything. It's what puts the things that seemed important in their rightful place..." etc., and eventually there would be the "big reveal" of whatever he was talking about, but by then I was already struggling to stay focused. There's a lot of fluff surrounding some really good points, but unfortunately, the fluff was too distracting for me.
Glad I read it once, glad to not read it again.
