Good Irish chick-lit. Not your typical happy ending to the story lines.

Lessons in Heartbreak
Cathy Kelly
⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve had this one on my TBR read for a while and finally got it. I’m not really sure how I felt about this book tho, it was good don’t get me wrong, I think I just felt like it would be more than what it was. I think I wanted more heartbreak in it, I mean the girl experienced her heartbreak but I don’t know I just think it needed more action to it!

I have to say that this book wasn't as cliched and predictable as I thought it was going to be. It didn't have the typical nice, happy endings for everyone that most books in this genre tend to have, which I liked. I also liked the 1940s story interwoven through it.
Although it was still a fairly easy and light read, it was not as "fluffy" as some of this author's other offerings and I must admit to being pleasantly surprised by it. I'd give it a 3.5 if possible.

With a 5 hour train journey to and from Scotland and London to fill I had to pick my reading material with care so I took along the newest paperback by Cathy Kelly. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest installment by the irish authoress and liked the way that it brought together the 3 experiences of adultery that the main characters lived through.
I particularly liked the way it linked the story of Grandmother and Grandaughter and how through flashbacks it told the similarity of their stories, taking through to a poignant ending which sees the grandmother pass away.
A cracking read - another fantastic Cathy Kelly novel and well worth the money
