Not very good to be honest. You can summarize the book by looking for the pictures, reading their footnotes and remembering that confident people use as much space as possible and viceversa. The “anecdotes” used to illustrate points feel fabricated to stress said points. While the author is clear to mention it, in the end, verything on this book is very subjective.

Some personal notes I wrote (putting them here so I don't forget):
Spoiler
--pg. 26: freeze response comes *first* for danger
--pg. 31: next, flight
--pg. 37: watch for pacifying behavior (fiddling?)
--pg 36: "The Gift of Fear"
--pg. 39: women of use suprasternal notch to pacify *watch for it in self!* (men tend touch face)
--pg. 43: men more robust in neck touching
--pg. 63: gravity defying = happiness feet
--pg. 66-7: splayed posture = territorial, lessen tension by being less splayed, show dominance through more splayed
--pg. 70: let people know things are good between you by crossing legs
--pg. 71: watch who people tilt legs/knees toward indicates preference
--pg. 91: lean more towards to show agreement, away to show disagreement
--pg. 104-5: full, high shoulder shrug more likely to be truth
--pg. 112-3: restricting arm movement can be a sign of abuse
--pg. 116: arms behind back not thinking, but "Don't touch me" (watch Queen E and husband)
--pg. 122: civilians rarely stand with arms akimbo (hands on fists?), shows authority
--pg. 136: showing hands makes feel more trustworthy (don't conceal)

A fun read. The next time I'm talking with you, I'll be analyzing your body's reactions to our discussion topics. :-)

A neat body language starter guide. Regrettably, there is no mention of occasions where I, for example, moonwalk myself out of a conversation. My feet are pointing towards my interlocutors— showing interest in them, according to this book—as I build geographical distance. I hope they include this prominent contemporary example in the next edition.

Seems like useful information--if nothing else, I've now got several new things to watch for and keep in mind when talking with or observing people.
