I just adored this book. Nate just wants to do ballet and dance, but his brother keeps telling him only girls can dance. Nate goes to ballet class and it's all girls and pink tights and tutus. He doesn't want to wear pink tights and pink shoes and tutus, but he wants to DANCE! And thanks to supportive parents and a trip to the ballet to see the male dancers, he realizes he can. Sweet story.

Kindergartner Nate loves to dance. Dance, dance, dance! He is especially entranced with ballet, but his older brother teases him and says only girls can be ballerinas, and they wear dresses, and pink shoes. Nate is distraught, but his parents soothe his ruffled feelings and take him to a ballet so he can see professional male dancers.

Good message that you can be whatever you want to be, and you don't have to follow the norm, or listen to the limits of others! Would be a good addition to a classroom library!

I really wish I could find *one* book like this, where a boy does stereotypical "girl" things but wherein no one bats an eyelash. I understand that maab/boys who step outside their assigned gender get negative responses many times in their lives, but it would be nice to have one escape book, ya know?
