Well, it was a good read.
As expected the main character fits the usually Gillian Flynn trope of a troubled manipulative young lady, but I enjoyed it anyway.
The villain is great, the uncertainty and the ending what one should expect from a short story.

This was the first Gillian Flynn book I have read. I did see the movie "Gone Girl" but I did not read the book. I had seen this book on my library's shelves and flipping through it the first line caught my attention and made me want to read this book. Also it's really short so I knew it would be a quick read. I fell in love with the main character from the first line on the first page. We never learn her name, but I loved her voice. She made me laugh, and I want to be her friend. I would love to be in a book club with her. She's a morally gray character which I love, it made her that more interesting. This book seemed like it was going to be a traditional ghost story, but it wasn't. There were things I didn't see coming, and I'm still not sure what is actually true and what's not. For such a little book, it packs a big punch, and I'll be thinking about it for a long time. I also really enjoyed all the side characters, especially Miles. I listened to the book on audio, and the narrator did an awesome job. This book is a good fall/Halloween read. It's not super scary, but it has a creepy, weird vibe and it's funny too. I laughed out loud in quite a few places. Her other novels seem more disturbing and scary, which I'm not a huge fan of, but I really liked her writing style and her characters, so I'm more interested in her other work. Maybe I will just read them in the daytime and watch a Disney movie afterwards. :)
