Unsurprisingly, I liked the premise, the writing, and the first half of this work. With typical Gillian Flynn flair, I fell hook, line, and sinker for the twist and was all kinds of hype for what I was hoping for a cat-and-mouse escape the haunted house sprint to the end with a cliffhanger, but that definitely was not what she delivered. I think one of Gillian Flynn's strengths is in her characters, that even in a very short work she can convey their personalities and behaviors very well. All said, the characters of Susan and Miles could have used more showing than telling to make the second half more compelling. The ending fell flat for me, unfortunately.

don't have too much to say about this one other than reiterating my intense love and appreciation for gillian flynn and her ability to craft the best thrillers and characters. this book was short but packed a punch and i haven't stopped thinking about it. loved the main character and LOVED the ending. it was the perfect level of ambiguous for me, and i'm always grateful for a good gillian flynn finale...
