I got this as a special gift in my January Book of the Month box. I really enjoyed Gillian Flynn's other books but it being a short story I probably never would have went out on my own to buy this. I felt the first 2/3 of the book were really great: captivating, creepy and fast paced. The characters had better development in the first 35 pages then they do in many of the full length books I have read lately that are all trying to mimic Gone Girl. However, it all came together in an incredibly lackluster ending. Which I guess was meant to be open to interpretation? I don't know, all in all I felt the entire story lost some of it's punch with such a weak ending.

3.5 ⭐️ Gillian Flynn is a great storyteller and this short story is very Gillian Flynn-y. Hooked from the first sentence, couldn’t put it down, but her endings are just so far fetched and silly.
