Interesting, creepy, weird little story. I always enjoy the way Gillian Flynn writes, so it was worth the read!

I LOVE Gillian Flynn, but this story...sucked. The first two thirds are spent building up a fantastic and terrifying momentum, but the last third is all maybe-twists and sort-of exposition and a non-ending.

This starts out as a great ghost story, but there are several dull and overly-spelled-out "gotcha" moments to reverse the reader's suspicions, each time to diminishing returns. The anticipation and momentum come to a screeching halt, only to let off with an ~open ending~ that doesn't even leave you caring what happens.

I'm honestly glad this is a short story, because it means I didn't have to waste much of my time.

LOL this was so bad.

Underdeveloped plot line, weird tangents that we're too long (should've used those words for plot development), and the ending was TERRIBLE. It was a whiplash of poorly done "plot twists" that contradicted each other for no reason.

It was entertaining I guess? But nothing about this story was unique or done well so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

It was just so bad. Save yourself the time.

I will always love short stories. Why? Because they force authors to be concise. To fit a book's worth of tale into as few pages as possible. This means that fluff and other non-necessities get left on the cutting room floor of the imagination. And there are many authors who desperately need this re-evaluation. I believe that Gillian Flynn is one such author. I struggled to get through Gone Girl. There was just too much going on. I never finished one of her other books because it bored me. This? Very well done. And, I'll be honest here, I could've even handled it being a bit longer. Just not *too much* longer.

Quick little thriller with a plot twist true to gillian flynn's style

I keep giving Gillian Flynn a try and I’m underwhelmed every time. The hype surrounding her books is so out of proportion to her writing, plot, character development, storylines, etc. This one was no different. At least it was super short so I didn’t spend much time on it.

The beginning intrigued me, the middle hooked me entirely, and the end did not come close to any of those expectations. Even with such a limited page count, surely there are better ways to reveal twists than having a character go on a rocket speed monologue explaining it all, and then leaving the reader with such an ambiguous open ending.
