An excellent thriller and haunting short story. I wish it was longer! Flynn does it again with gripping details and surprises at every turn. Her insight into the neurotic and often narcotic psyches of her protagonists is phenomenal.
I am still not sure about this one
This is unconventional and weird and yet oddly interesting.
I cant say much because it is so short - but the multiple twists made me go like .... so many twists and so little pages? WEIRD.
I dont regret reading it, would I recommend it though? not sure.

fun! could’ve been fleshed out with about 20 more pages
Finished this book in a single afternoon (it's only 64 pages, an hour and a half by audiobook). Perfect length - the ending was surprising, but not quite as elaborate as Gillian Flynn is known for. In all fairness, it's a short story and it wraps up perfectly. A good read for Halloween!

Man, this story was disappointing. Flynn's prose and voice are cutting as always, and the set-up was intriguing, but it fell totally flat. Lackluster narrative, forgettable characters, predictable "twist", and a rushed ending where a character basically just spells it all out for the reader point blank, like a Nancy Drew villain. This book is ostensibly a thriller, but I didn't feel thrilled or even a little creeped out at any point. I love Gillian Flynn, but this story is really weak. What a bummer.

Yes, it's a short story -- a quick read -- but it is well-crafted to make you think you know what's going on. And then it twists. And twists again. And keeps twisting all the way to the end.
