Great book that really hooked me, especially in the last half. It's got a bit of a slow start but quickly picks up speed. Just like the detectives on the case, the reader, too, finds themself wondering just what version of the story to believe. For most of the book, it's separated to be one chapter of Keely telling her story and then one regular chapter and that worked surprisingly well for me. Was satisfying to see it all come together in the end. I had my suspicions pretty quickly but didn't see the full picture until it was revealed.

I listened to this as an audiobook. Usually I don't really have a preference of audiobook versus print, but I think this book leant itself really well to audio. Having a different, female, narrator for Keely's chapters was a big benefit to the story. Really enjoyed this.

This story was gripping from the very first page. I am so impressed by the authors ability to balance several story lines in a way that flows effortlessly without confusion. The twist stopped me right in my tracks, rethinking everything I had read up until that point. Everything felt so whole in the end, all of the plot lines wrapped up beautifully. The only thing that I will critique is the amount of names and people there were to keep track of. There were a few names that were similar to the point of blurring a bit for me. However, that could have just been my own issue. This was my first book from the author and I am off to find more from her now. Amazing read! Well done, Gytha Lodge!

I love this series and this is another great entry in it. Not only do you get involved in the story of each book but you find yourself caring about the main character and his team of detectives as people as well.

i kind of put off getting this one out coz i thought i wouldn’t like it but it was actually pretty good i did quite enjoy it
it’s a bit cop centric which i find to be a bit grating but was interesting enough that it didn’t bother me too much

This book is fantastic! I had no idea it was part of a series and truthfully I don’t think I was at a disadvantage of having not read the previous book. However I will definitely be adding all of this series onto my Christmas wish list.

Two sisters go missing, only one returns. Covered in blood devoid of emotion.

The story primarily takes place in a police interview room. A cold Keely sits across the DCI and tells her story in an spine chilling way that makes you question what she is capable of. Was she born a psychopath? Or did childhood trauma make her this way ?

Get this book, read this book.
