3/5 So! This book is truly two books in one; the first 50-60% is screaming to be edited more (specifically towards trimming! Faith you would’ve torn ur hair out with this one lol), the laat 40(ish)% percent finally having the same fast paced vibes as the previous books, wrapping up well, having the characters ACTUALLY act like themselves, twists and endings galore! Hence this being a 3 star read for me (take it with a grain of salt)

Endless War was a nice conclusion to Keris & Aren’s story, and a nice expansion of the Bridge Kingdom world too! My biggest, and favorite takeaways, was how Jensen expanded the worldbuilding of this world a lot in this book. More than any of the others I think.
For example, there’s more hints at divinity, such as the sharks sparing Lara and the Cardiffian witches. The worldbuilding was expanded here too — she references how all these people speak different languages or at least have different accents. It helps build the story, which was nice! I know this is romantasy, so worldbuilding is often sacrificed the character-driven drama and angst, but I always love when the authors still seed a larger world outside the parts important to the plot.
The plot was not necessarily mind blowing, at least in the latter half. The Devil Islands plot arc was very well done and was the peak of my enjoyment of the book to be honest! A mix of character development and plot driven action. The intrigue, survivalism, and Zarrah becoming anti-Petra was a lot of fun. The inclusion of Lara & Aren in this part was also fun, but I admit to that couple being my fav of the two, so biased there!
The latter half was a bit more predictable, more the last 200ish pages specifically. The commanders real identity was not a shock, but it was played well. The final confrontation between Zarrah and Petra was a bit cliche, but enjoyable for all its action scenes and the emotional chaos of the moment.
Of course, we got our happy ending and that makes me happy! Though, I think the more obvious cliched latter half diminished my enjoyment of this book compared to either Inadequate Heir or Traitor Queen.

Ngl, after reading this I might like Zarrah and Keris more than Lara and Aren. I'm sad we don't get another book with them but I'm so intrigued by the premise of Ahnna's story that I'm excited for the next book regardless.
