My favorite volume so far. There is a lot of character development and we start to really see the personalities of all the characters well. I love learning more about the back story and the translation (I read it in English) is really well done imo. This mangaka is so talented and they always remind you this is a horror right when you need it to! It’s hard to describe but all of the big moments that happen in this volume are perfectly placed! Love seeing ‘Hikaru’ growing!

I love that this is a story that just... seeps into you and leaves a water strain and a damp stench that lingers. It's grotesque and humid and it feels like it really can be happening in a random rural village somewhere. Love the subtext that's pretty much text. I think the character work is good.
I do think sometimes the story gets a bit too wrapped up in the technical details of the mystery, especially when it'd be stronger via implications (here's a map, it's a body hacked up, the arms go to the arm, the legs to the legs, here's the etymology of the arm section). But it's the enthralling nonetheless.
Glad I gave this story a shot and I'm excited to read more as it comes out.
