Like the first in this series, this book left me saying “what the fuck” several times. And just like the last one, it had me itching to read the third part. I loved to hate what was going on. Nikki Sloane does an incredible job of making you question everything! So good!

Ah. Sadly quite disappointed in this sequel.

The Obsession picks up right where the The Initiation left off so it is not recommended you read this sequel before reading The Initiation.

Marist feels betrayed. Royce Hale has not just taken her whole life, but now her heart too. And he has stomped on it all. He chose to take most of his fathers company shares, just so Macalister could "own" his fiance. Marist is stuck. She doesn't know who she can turn to or where to go from here.

To be honest, not much happens in the first 80% of this book. I was bored - And I hate saying that word when I am reading a book!! But I just felt nothing much happened. Marist fights off Macalister's advances again and again, while Royce tries to get Marist to trust him again.

The end 20% was dark & twisted. The maze scene is just, I don't even know how to describe it or think about it. For those dark steamy twisted fans - You will probably enjoy it. Which is usually me too (haha) but I felt uncomfortable. Do Marist & Macalister ever have sex? No. But gosh Macalister crosses that line too often. And the fact that Marist is his son's fiance is just even more twisted.

The ending is another cliffhanger, but I don't know if it was enough for me to read the next book in the series; The Deception. I may at a later date... Maybe.

2 - 2.5/5 stars (I can't decide) with 2/5 steam.
