Just no. The author tries to justify sexual assualt by claiming it is a love triangle. Absolutely not. I had to skip chapters because it was just so uncomfortable to read the MC saying in her head she didn't want something and then the author trying to justify it by saying she was aroused. News flash, you can be assualted and be aroused. Arousal does not equal concent.

I am not quite sure why I am still reading this series. This is not a romance, there is no love whatsoever even if it is talked about at some point. It's an awful situation with no light at the tunnel. At every turn I hope that Marist will somehow prevail, while she is digging herself a bigger hole. There is nothing good here, only manipulation, lies, unhealthy lust and very big eww factor to be honest. At one point I just wanted to see her free herself from this situation alone. For a first time in a "romance" novel I really don't think her happily ever after should be with the "main" hero. Because he is nothing but a spoiled, spineless brat, whose focus is simply the money. And from time to time Marist. As an afterthought. And still...here I am. reading. I think I will just skip through the last book, because even though I kind of hate this characters and their choices, I am curious enough to see who will win this game. Macalister or Marist. Because no matter the synopsis and the "love story", unfortunately these two are the main cast in this game of manipulation.

The Maze scene!!

Dammit, Nikki Sloane. You've done it again.
Another day is lost because I couldn't put your book down.

The Obsession by Nikki Sloane 190 pages
Filthy Rich Americans #2
7 hours and 48 minutes narrated by Savannah Peachwood

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Dark, Erotica, New Adult, Erotic Romance, Suspense

Featuring: Sex - overly detailed, Affluent Families, Sexual Misconduct, Greek Mythology, Oddly Placed F-Bombs, Family Dynamics, Games

Rating as a movie: NC-17 for sexual content

My rating: ⭐⭐⭐½

My thoughts: 34% - This is going to be awkward.
50% - It's like borderline corny but also better than any soap opera I've ever seen.

This book made me feel icky and terrified; I think that was the point. The drama and games are great but there are some inconsistencies that got on my nerves Marist was 20 at the beginning of the first book and 21 at the end and Royce 25, yet somehow they are supposed to be 4 years apart since she was 6 and he was 10 when his mother died
Although book 2 starts on the same day as book one as book 1, he is now 26. I know it's not a big deal to most readers the stuff like that just gets on my nerves. Macalister was not even 50 yet in the 1st book, but now he is in his mid fifties. Other than that, it lives up to its modern take on a Greek tragedy.

Recommend to others?: Yes. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made; you have to suffer through this to get to the other side.
