Really like this series but I just feel like Royce's character is lacking? Like there's not much attention on him so I don't feel that attached to him.

The intricate story played out like the chess game just like ones the characters played and I was the one obsessed by the end. Again, like the first book in this series (The Initiation), the revelations and deals agreed, had me sat there with my mouth open wide and rendered me speechless. Now I can’t wait to dive into book 3!

Wow McAllister sure knows how to play the game. Who would have thought using chess as a sexual advancement. Royce comes off as a selfish prick, but I think in his own twisted way he truly loves Marist, but just doesn't know how to show it. And with a dad like McAllister who would. Alice just get on my last nerve and is like foam on a beer,.not needed. You feel for Marist and all the hoops she gets into or is made to do. McAllister comes across as this sick dominate male that gets you hot but you also want to smack the shit out of. Marist sharing her love of Greek mythology is one step down a rabbit hole for Marist. And let's not get me started on Alice and her stepson relationship yuck.
Read it in one setting. Loved the comparisons with Greek mythology.
I don’t know how to explain that I dislike this book’s content but I’m obsessed anyway
