A very original story who will appeal to younger and older readers. Gorgeous illustrations, loveable characters, humorous, atmospheric, it's all there. Loved it.

I wanted to like this book because it has a nice name and a beautiful cover. I still haven't finished it, because every time I pick it up I am disappointed. It wants to be Narnia, but the writing is too self-aware and the characters just aren't very believable -- the 12-year old protagonist is too weirdly grown up in a way that feels false. The illustrations and cover are beautiful and the premise is promising, but I wouldn't recommend it.

A fun premise, and a spunky protaganist... but somehow this one just never grabbed me. I made it about halfway through.

Definitely a page turner adventure! I didn’t have any expectations when I discovered this book in a book store while on vacation, but the cover pulled me in immediately. It was a wild (pun intended) and fun tale, with some heavy nods to Narnia but I’m still left with some lingering questions. Maybe I’ll have to venture into book 2 to see where else this storyline goes!!
