Short is definitely the right word! The entire history of England in 350pgs was never going to be anything but. As an introduction to all the major events and people from the Saxons to our present coalition government though, this book really works. It doesn't go into any great depth but the huge amounts of lavish illustration bring the history to life and make for a very entertaining introduction to English history.
