Painted in the style of Tom Thompson, each page in this picture book is a visual jewel. The story is based on a summer when Tom Thompson taught Helen MacCallum, whose father was friends of the artist, how to paint while he stayed with them. The writing is beautifully lyrical, but I found it hard to read and focus on because of Pascal Milelli art. The backmatter contains additional information about the life of Tom Thomson.
