Oh how I wish I did not listen to the bad reviews of this book and skip it. I went on to read/listen to Britt-Marie Was Here. I did not realize that when Britt-Marie Was Here came out that it was about a character in a previous book. Normally I read books in order. I think Britt-Marie would do this also ;)
I loved this book. It made me laugh it made me cry... I wonder if I would have loved it as much had I read it rather than listened to it??? I loved all the characters in this book. I loved how they are all connected in real life and in the fairytales. I loved the treasure hunts. I loved that Elsa loves X-Men and Harry Potter. I love how she talks about nicking parts of Harry Potter to tell stories of Miamas. Let's face it J.K Rowling nicked from all the best stories and fairy tales out there to create the world of Harry Potter. I really loved the idea of who the accountant was. "Because if a sufficient number of people are different no one has to be normal" I can not wait to read more books from Fredrik Backman.

It was hard to get going in this one with the fairytales dominant in the first third of the book. I am glad I stuck it out because Backman comes through again with an enjoyable story.

I am a huge Backman fan, and while I did end up giving this 4 stars it pains me to say I almost DNF in the beginning. The story in the story made it hard to stay engaged and it didn’t really pick up for me until about 1/2 way through. Once it did tho the classic Backman charm came through and I was hooked.

3.5⭐️The characters were a little too over the top unbelievable at times, but another good story by this author.
It took me a minute to get into it. But it was worth it!
I picked this up early this morning when I couldn't sleep...and then cried all night long. I knew I had to push on because I was really enjoying it and I could not allow myself to have that much emotion hanging going into Christmas.
