I just wasn't vibing with it. The audio is amazing but the story wasn't gripping me. Might come back to it at a later date.

I didn't like this one nearly as much as the first book. However, I did again love how all the characters and storylines overlapped and finally came to a head at the end of the book.

Lin continues to try and figure out her world and her place in it. She wants so badly to correct the errors and atrocities that her father committed when he was emperor while also being better than he ever was. But the people are tired of the rule of emperors and Lin hits snags at every turn. It definitely makes you question who's side you want to be on in this world.

I could empathize with all of the characters and their motives resonated with me but it felt rather dragged out along the way. I loved the mystery of the Alanga and the ossilon and can't wait to see what they mean for the world at large. I will definitely continue the series because I am very attached to the characters and the story at large but this book took me forever to get through because the pacing was just too much for me.
