Good, but felt nowhere near as mind-blowing to me as Blindsight, so I was disappointed.

The egotistical parasite thinks it enjoyed this.

You know how it is when you read a very good work of fiction, and you have to read it several times before you really get all of it? I’ve just read it for the third time and I think I’ve now understood everything. Well, for me that's a very rare thing in science fiction.

This book is really meaty, it needs at least two reads with a pause in between. A great story that's also thought provoking and works on the basis ‘don’t stick it in their faces, let them work it out a bit’.

There are SO many really interesting future science and evolution ideas in it. I really recommend this book if you want to read and have to think about what you are reading. Give it time and take it slowly; rush through it on the beach and you'll miss much of what is going on.

Alert: you’ll need a decent science background to get to grips with it.

Yes, it definitely is an unusual and very good book, as long as you have a science background.

Somewhat disappointing. Not nearly as good as Blindsight (which was one of the best sci-fi novels I’ve ever read). Most of the plot is meandering and feels meaningless, with a lot less insight than in Blindsight. It’s still very well-written, with great prose. Characters are VERY dull. The cast of Blindsight was great, a lot of unique weirdos with different personalities, beliefs, and tech and biological quirks. Most of the Echopraxia cast are mundane individuals, with a significant number of the ‘crew’ never even given more than a cursory development. The study of Portia is given only brief time in the novel, compared to the expansive and detailed study of Rorschach from Blindsight.

No strong emotion I'm just bored.  It's been days since I last picked this up, I read 2 more pages today and realized I didn't care.  Time to put this down.
