fast-paced
Extremely readable but not quite as good as the first one, which is understandable considering the initial book contained a mystery and a big reveal at the end. This second book actually doesn't suffer too badly from the middle installment syndrome, where you feel like it's simply a bridge setting up for the final act. You learn many more details about the town and how it came to be. And it did its job, which is to get me very excited about the final book. In fact, I picked up the third installment the moment I finished this one.

Blake Crouch just gets me with these crazy endings and makes me reconsider every negative thought I had about the book.
This one is a little slower build from the first because it has to build back up from the reveal that Pines ended on. I liked this a lot though. I find myself engrossed in the story and not thinking super analytically which is enjoyable.
This book has a little more sexual content than other Blake Crouch books. I can sort of see why in the plot but I don't think it needs it.

This is an excellent example of a second book in a trilogy. It answered a lot of questions that accumulated from the first installment and leaves us with more mysteries for the final book. The stakes were really high, and the pacing was good for a majority of it. We got insights into both established and new characters and how the town of Wayward Pines operates. The final few chapters makes sure that you’re intrigued enough to finish the series.
I am rating this 5 stars because this is a perfect second book in my opinion.
We got new insights, in depth knowledge about characters, new characters and the ENDING? We are set up perfectly for a final book.
While this was not as fast paced, it was still plot and character heavy and again - a perfect second book.
