I gave this a reread after winning a copy of the updated book. Still just as enjoyable the second time around. I liked that it included much of the little short vignettes that were free on the author's blogs, I really felt it rounded out the story quite well, having it all in one place. Of course, I wasn't sure which parts were included until I went back to reread the shorts and realized they were added into the main story, because my memory is that bad.

If you like rock stars, friends to lovers, and second chance stories, then this is a great one to pick up.

This was an easy read. I just loved it. I knew what was going on, just didn't know the whole why of it, until it came spilling out. Eleven years is a long time to hold onto a grudge. But in the end love conquers all. In typical O'Shea/Vaughn fashion. Yay! I love how Shane was just instinctively drawn to Kayden. His heart knew, even if his brain didn't. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

This book confused me soooo much!! First, if Shane was still in love with Jesse, then why was this story about some guy named Kayden; if the story was about Kayden and Shane, why all the angst and info about Jesse. I started thinking that Jesse and Kayden was the same person but that didn't make any sense... by page 88 I couldn't take it and had to skip forward just to see if Kayden was Jesse. How could you not recognize the voice of the person you considered your best friend and first love? Even if he had an accent now you should still recognize his singing!!! And for Jesse/Kayden to have changed himself so dramatically and held on his anger for so long, how was he still essentially a well adjusted person? I get the motivation to want revenge, and I understand how hurt Jesse was by Shane's rejection, but to change yourself so much...

And then the ending seemed so rushed. They both forgave so easily. It was nice and convenient for Shane that he had to give nothing up to be with Jesse; Jesse was now beautiful and successful.

I really liked this book (3.5 stars), the story of Shane, part of a hugely successful band but lacking something in his life. Although slightly predictable but with an interesting make-over theme, there is enough tension and a good pace. I also love a nice happy ending!

The story is told in a combination of 'now' and 'then' with the flashbacks telling the story of Shane's love for his best friend Jesse, a love based on what's inside rather than outward appearance. The 'now' tells the story of Shane's current discontent and his growing attraction to Kayden, the hot lead singer of another band.

Interestingly the only character I didn't warm to was Nick (Shane's brother) who features in the second book of the series. Reviews of The Luckiest indicate it is better than this first book so I am very eager to read and learn more about Nick.

That’s one hell of a twist!

I didn’t figure out what was happening until a couple,e pages before it hit. And even then I thought there’s no way. But there was and your execution was intense.

Although the plot is a bit far fetched sometimes bordering on silly this book was an enjoyable read.

Just what I needed. Some good (a bit sad) romance about two rockers. What do you want more?
The spark between Shane and Kylan is obvious, but why is Kylan so unkind to Shane? And what is that vibe around Kylan? There is something, but what? It was early in the story that I suspected the plot hole, but that didn't bother me. It was nice to see how it developed and how it turned out. I was feeling the love between them and the end, was just freaking fantastic. Give me more!
