It was fine but I did enjoy Stoker playing hard to get with Veronica.

I've been waiting for this book for a whole year and honestly, why the hell did I read it so fast?! The ending of the seventh book in this series was torturous and I have been anxiously anticipating how the hero and heroine would come back together again, in person and more. I was NOT disappointed! While I do think this particular mystery was much quieter than we've come to expect from Veronica Speedwell, it didn't deter from 1. what I was most interest in and 2. what the plot was saying about murders and the people who commit them. I think it was about time for there to be something just as sinister, but slightly less dangerous for the gang. I also believe that while the ending of this book felt almost final, there has to be another book coming soon or I will perish! There wasn't much set up plot wise to give readers a clue about what's coming next which just makes me that much more excited to see what's coming. Highly recommend this series!
