The first half of this book tore me to shreds. I was just so sad, and it was exhausting to get through - not in a bad way. I wanted to keep reading, but it was just making me so emotional having to live through what was happening and how Eve was feeling about and dealing with it.
I genuinely thought the second half of this book was going to be about Eve and Ed falling back in love with each other. I’m glad that Eve spent time with Finley and that helped her realize how manipulative Ed had been to her all these years, whether or not he meant to be.
I wasn’t sure that this would turn into a love story between Eve and Finley, and I’m so glad it did. I think it was healing for both of them. I can see why people wouldn’t buy into it, but I think the way it happened was purposely unexpected and kind of beautiful.
Also, the way they slowly get to know each other and the way Finley peels off his layers and opens up to Eve is so beautiful. They make sense, and I wish we got a longer epilogue to live in their relationship a little longer since so much of the book was sad and mournful, and they spent much of that time at odds.

Thought this was a romance. Seems more like woman’s fiction.
Expectations - silly goofy Rom com
