Overall, I enjoyed this book. A clean romance that is well written with a bit of comedy and intrigue. The characters are likeable enough but not always shown as true to form, meaning there are small deviations made for the story's sake. A headstrong, opinionated female allows herself to be pinned in a corner and meekly accepts the end results. I don't think she would! A few things bothered me and had me doubting the validity of this pairing: Stefton's readily agreement to keep an eye on her in order to relieve his boredom/ennui then not stepping in quickly enough when she and her party are being manhandled by someone he actively loathes because he was enjoying the spectacle before him ... then no mention of those reprehensible actions were made to the appropriate parties. If I was her, I wouldn't have hesitated in telling others about those "gentlemen" so they would be barred from polite society ... her self-appointed protector is an aloof, cold man who talks about ending things with his mistress and yet, takes her to the theater and such while he dawdles on his decision. Totally unbelievable because all of his other actions have led the readers to believe he is a man of action and firm in his convictions. Yet, I can see him having his tough exterior slowly whittled away as he spends more time with Catherine and finds more things to admire.

This was free on Kindle Unlimited. It sounded promising, but the main characters were lame and unlikeable. The author randomly changed POV with each paragraph, which made for some confusion until I figured or whose head I was in.
