This is one of those books where I hated the ending. Not because I didn't like it, or because it didn't end the book well, or because it didn't wrap up the series brilliantly. But because I didn't want it to be over. I am furious that this is only a trilogy. I love these characters and this world so much. I cannot say enough good things about these books. I love George, I love Edie, I love the Gunner, I love Spout!!! I laughed, I cried (for reals, people) and the ending wrapped enough up while still leaving threads untied in the PERFECT way. Seriously one of the best fantasy series I've read since Harry Potter.

Even though this is essentially a children's book it never felt childish which, I guess, it something that the best of books do manage to get right. The story is relayed from a number of viewpoints which contributes to a very fast narrative without losing any of the richness in the world building whilst keeping one guessing over the fate of the individual characters till the very end.

Squee!! The conclusion to this trilogy more than fulfilled the promises made in the first two books. The plot was beautifully constructed, the characters rich and full, and the conclusion wonderful beyond my hopes. My only complaint is that the trilogy is now over :) I'll almost certainly re-read these books.

The 9 year old and I listened to this trilogy. I have to say that I really enjoyed this series. We both liked it. There were certainly some grown-up concepts, but I don't think anything that would be too awful to explain. It might be better for a slightly older kid, but my nine year old was fine with it.

One of the better "kid" books I've read this year.

Didn't finish it BECAUSE... It was a good plot, had good characters, had interesting parts but wasn't written so I wanted to read on as soon as they got to the Sphinxes I practacly knew the rest of the plot. Sorry?!?

The final installment of The Stoneheart Trilogy. The battle between the spits and taints is reaching its climax. The ice devil has freed the darkness from the London stone and only Charlie and Edie can set things right. Charlie must defeat the Dark Knight and Edie must find the mirrors to banish the ice devil back to its own world if time in London is to be set right again. To aid them in their task they have steady allies like the Gunner and other allies they don't expect. A satisfying and adventure-laden ending to a charming series.
