I cannot get along with Pratchett's style. I don't find his sence of humour funny and I find the plot poorly developed and very confusing.

3 stars. I really like Rincewind as a character but at this point in the series, his books are my least favorite of the Discworld. I don’t know what it is. They are not bad in any sense of the word. They’re easy reads, the humor lands for me a lot of the time, the writing is fantastic and they’re quick adventures. But there’s just something about them that I can’t put my finger on that is missing for me that I don’t fully connect with them. I can’t explain it if I tried but yeah, I’m much more interested in Death and Witches arcs in the series.

A fun read but not a favorite. I’m glad the next book is book two in the Witches series and I’m super excited to read that one.

The first Discworld book where the humour seems to have lost its edge a bit, and the discoveries about the world aren't as amusing as they had been in previous entries. It's a shame that Rincewind as a protagonist doesn't seem to have grown one bit since pretty much page one of book one. In another series, that would be a major complaint, but in Discworld, it's the world itself that's the star, with its ever-so-slightly off versions of well-worn fantasy tropes. Despite an interesting detour in faux-Arabia Klatch (narrative fetishist Creosote being the best new character), it doesn't offer much new on that front either. It's still gently amusing, but the sheen has come off for the first time.

Sourcery by Terry Pratchett, I hate to say, may be my least favorite in my re-read of the Discworld books so far. In this fifth book, we spend time with Rincewind again. When a sourcerer is born and goes on to take over Unseen University, Rincewind is the only wizard left to save everyone. I probably wasn’t in the best headspace to take on this book. I’ve been dealing with some stuff in my personal life that hasn’t had me enjoying much. This book is all over the place, making a broad sweep across Discworld. It felt unfocused. There are some moments where I recognized that they were humorous, but I didn’t laugh or find as much fun in this book. For me, at this moment in time, this is a 3/5 star book.
