A fantastical, funny and witty book! I absolutely loved Rincewind in this one and my all time favourite Luggage stole the show! I laughed so many times and the turns of phrase were magnificent!

Not Pratchett at his best, the over use of a thesaurus and the overuse of metaphors do not hide how bad the prose is and how tin the story was.

Disappointing.... It reads like a string of ideas loosely connected to the main plot. Some bits come and go so quickly you wonder why bother, and any number of them could have been more interesting if theyd had more focus than 15 pages.
I didnt particularly vibe with the characters either - Nijel is a wannabe adventurer going straight out of the manual with no real world experience, a fun idea but he turns up too late to have any development, and Conina wants to be a hairdresser but is an adventurer because shes Cohen's daughter, and nothing much happens with that either. Then the story ends and both are told to leave and forget the whole ordeal.
Coin had some potential but was surprisingly absent from the bulk of the story and only have development about his relationship with his dad and his magic so close to the end it reads more like being told hes learned or changed but we dont see it.
This one ends with Rincewind and Luggage in the dungeon dimension - ill be interested to see what Terry does with that when I get to Rincewinds next appearance.

I cannot believe I waited so long to read my first Pratchett!!
This was so funny I was laughing out loud at multiple points, and the story was very entertaining.
The audiobook was also fantastic.

Rincewind’s personality really shines in this one. I especially liked the theme of being who you know you are, even if that means being a wizzard who is bad at magic. Coin was also great, but the Conina and Nigel were hit or miss. I still struggle following Pratchett’s climaxes
