Overall, I enjoyed this book. Most parts were good, some parts were great, some parts were not so good (translation: so bad I ended up skimming and skipping a page or two).
First off, what happened to the Wisty in the first three books? She was a lot less...girly. Then she's ready to faint the second a cute boy shows up. From the beginning, I knew Heath was too... PERFECT to be true.
Second, I admire James Patterson's character interconnections, which I did not see coming, although I probably should've) and that got this book another star (well that and his good writing style). But Patterson's attempt at romance was feeble to say the least.
Parts of The Kiss I loved to death, others made me want to hide the book in the back of my shelf and make it think about what it has done. So, I say 4 stars are accurate.
Oh yeah! One more thing. This book leaves the series with a good, solid ending. If James Patterson comes out with a fifth book, I will walk to his house and sit him in a corner so that he can rethink his motives once more. A fifth book is unnecessary, and I think it would be an insult to everything that has been created in the first three books. The Kiss leaves this series straddling the thin line between perfect and way overdoing it.

THE KISS, which is the fourth book in the WITCH & WIZARD series is everything I wanted it to be and so much more. I wasn't sure how they would add more conflict, how the series could continue to draw me in, but they did and it did. This book is where the plot thickens. Everything is going haywire, and I loved it. The introduction of new characters(bad people to add to the conflict) took this book where it needed to be. Oh, and that ending, that traitor, I didn't see it coming Whit and Wisty had their work cut out for them, and I can't wait to see where it leads. .
What I Liked About It:
*the new characters
*increased conflict
*the twists and turns
*how everything started adding up
*the hero aspect

I kinda wish they left off with The Gift. This was fine though I guess.

To me this book changed way too much. The first ones give the impression these were regular kids in the regular world, who just learned they are witch and wizard. Now there is the desert, and the mountain, and this city seems to be the only real city around. Suddenly we are in a whole new world, not akin to ours at all. Very disappointed.

This series is so damn cheesy, trying way too hard to be YA. The names of the villains are “the one is the one” and “mountain king”. Wow how original ha! I liked the first book but now I’m just trying to finish the series.

2.5 stars, I really wanted to like this book but thought it was a big disappointment. Glad I borrowed it from the library and didn't spend any money on it. No character development and the story seemed kind of disjointed.

I generally like all of Mr. Patterson's books and enjoy his writing. But something about this book just made it really hard to get into. Can't put my finger on it. The movement of the story from the beginning to about midway through the book was just very slow going and unable to hold my attention for more than a couple of chapters at a time.
I continued reading because A)I've read the rest of the series and B)I had to know what happened. While the book did pick up the pace and held my interest better after part 2 of book (the book is split into parts Epilogue, Part 1, Part 2, etc) I still found the end underwhelming. Does leave the door open for another book which if it happened I would probably only read it because I've read the others and what to know what happens with Whit and Wisty. Of all the books I've ever read I think this one ranks high on the list of disappointments.

The series should have stopped after the last book.

This was a very thrilling book. I like that Wisty and Whit were finally recognized for their action and that people were not trying to kill them for the moment. I liked that Pearl tried her hardest even though she was in a bad condition. I like that Njar saved Ross, Janine, and Whit even though he could have been killed. I loved that Janine loved Whit enough to sacrafice her life for him. I like that Whit & Whisty made things right in the end.
