I hope this is just a small taste of the contemporary stories that Kaleigh has up her sleeve. While it’s short, it packs one heck of a punch that was unexpected.

I am usually not one for an age gap, especially with one where the hero is more than twice the age of the heroine. King made me forget the age gap between Astor and Indie and yanked me into the story of two people who have had to fight for every piece of their life. Indie was belt a crappy hand when it comes to her mom and with her dad's death, everything falls apart. Her mom does her best to make her life miserable. Astor doesn't know if people want to be around him because of his money or who he is. Once he met Indie he knew he needed to own her, and Indie needed his money. What they end up finding is a whirlwind of emotions that was completely unexpected. They both just want someone to love and love them for who they are.

This was good!

It was a simple read with LOTS of steam and heat. It was so satisfying in those regards that I was really thrilled to have run across it. <3

There were definitely some points at the end that got annoying for me- for example- and, SPOILERS ahead but, when Indies mom and stepdad just literally go out of their way to MURDER her for a really vague and convoluted reason it just insta-killed some of affection I had for this. Bc genuinely, it was just so dumb.

Aside from the really stupid ending with the parents, the only other thing I have to say is I'm really not a fan of characters from other series rubbing elbows, things set within the same universe and meeting previous people or future people in upcoming or old novels. It bugs me. Those characters from old novels authors refer to make me feel as if I should be reading every other novel in that same universe which is not the feeling I'm after when I read. Guilty and out of the loop for not being 5 books in to this universe of 10 or 20 other novels. It just, really annoys me bc it distracts me from the character's I'm focused on now. Anyways, the reason I bring it up is bc we get to meet the ML's son who sounds shrimpy as all heck and I am pre-judging the duck out of and then there's that other guy we meet. The younger brother?? Maybe?? I think?? Idk, it really wasn't clarified who was who. But basically this guys asks the ML for a favor getting a girl admitted into the school. And that's fine and everything but the whole time he was in the picture I kept wishing in my head that his book would be a RH, which, I am positive it will not be. So bummer all around.

In any case, despite those small knocks, I'd have to say this book was super satisfying and very enjoyable for how on point it was in being a no brainer spicy read.

I really enjoyed the beginning of the story and the spice but as the story went on, the plot became so messy and over the top.

I am giving this 4.5 stars. I loved this story so much. It was so much more than an ex-boyfriend dad trope. There were so many emotions and loved the horse storyline.

The writing isn’t the best BUT there is so immaturity or miscommunication or third act breakup, so I’m here for it

I skimmed the majority of the book.
It was too wordy.  Didn't care for the characters.
