*Very, VERY mild spoilers ahead!*

ngl, I *almost* put this down as soon as I picked it up at realized it was a ‘theatre kids’ book.  No offence to anyone who enjoys those stories, but as a 100% not theatre kid, I tend to not like these stories, at all.  Thankfully I kept with it and really enjoyed it!

I really enjoy Adib Khorram’s writing and I was happy to see this, after I absolutely adored his last book (Kiss and Tell).  While I found Jackson a bit annoying, he was also very much a teenager, unsure of himself and making some really dumb choices.  I liked that by the end he was doing the work to get himself, and his relationship, to a better place.  Also, love that he recognized (maybe with a bit of help) that therapy might help him work through some of the things that led to so many things blowing up.

I also appreciated that this was very much an HFN, as YA with an HEA just does not seem realistic at all.  I also like that the book ended before there was even any real discussions of what a post-high school relationship would look like.  When I read that in a book, it often comes across as the author trying to write an HEA when one is very unlikely.  Always here for an HFN when it makes sense, and it absolutely did for this story.

i cannot believe adib khorram has me so whipped that i stuck through the entirety of this mess of a teenage drama and still haven't come out of this absolutely hating the story

it is a very typical romcom — the plot, the character faults, the usual dramatics are ALL so familiar, it's honestly baffling bc somehow i legit could not put it down. it's like watching a disaster in motion and not being able to look away. it's a lil cringey, ngl, but for some reason i still enjoyed it in a way, so here we are

what this story does do quite well, though, is rep. it's refreshing, it's natural and just... pleasant to read. this might be one of the things that make it work — not the novelty of the story but the space that it makes for you in its pages. do keep in mind that it's.. uh. well. not groundbreaking, ig.

I loved this book. This was exactly what I was craving. The School drama and theatrics with romance and angst. I totally ate this up. Liam and Jackson were wonderful characters. The slow burn was really slow burning. They did annoy me here and there because of their poor choices but that was just to add on the drama so I get it. Otherwise, the touches, eye contact and just overall the love blossoming between them was soo swooning.
Some characters annoyed me to bits like jackson’ sister Jasmine and his ex Cam. Oh god!! I really had this severe urge to slap some sense into jasmine. I can’t believe siblings can be like this. She did redeemed herself at the end but i think you got easy way out.
