In my Lumberjack Era

Well I never thought I’d be reading about hot Lumberjacks. but here we are. Daphne Elliot has definitely gotten me hooked onto the joy that is her Maine Lumberjack series. Having read book 1, I was absolutely feral waiting for book 2 and was not disappointed.

Included in this book you will find:

Divorced Enemies to Lovers
Black Cat
Growly Golden Retriever
She bought his Timber Company
Pregnant at 40
He reads baby books

This book is about Gus and Chloe. Gus is the older brother of his siblings and he's definitely got the Grumpy vibes going on. He's had to go through a lot and was all set to leave his home town behind when his ex-wife shows up and buys his families failing company. The one stipulation for the sale was that he had to stay working for the new owner for a year. The main problem is that Gus is still very much in love with his ex, Chloe and she seems hell bent on keeping him at arms length.

Chloe has returned to get what she thinks is revenge on the guy who broke her heart. She thought she was over him, but it turns out shes not. One night leads to an accidental pregnancy and the two of them are forced to unpack all the baggage they've been carrying for 20 years.

This story broke me and then put me back together again. All in a very good way. It was heart wrenching learning about the things that broke them up, kept them apart and all the time they lost. However, watching them put themselves back together again was so healing and I loved how they forged a new together. This book had so much heart, hope and forgiveness. It was full of tenacity and the characters had so much strength and love.

I love how Daphne writes and all the fun things she puts in this book like "girl dinner". IYKYK. It was funny and swoon worthy. Chloe was a great FMC and Gus made all my lumberjack dreams come true. There were some steamy scenes, but nothing overboard. I wouldn’t have minded more, but ultimately it was a good blend of all that makes a great romance. I absolutely can’t wait to continue on in this series.

Cute story, I loved how old they were (not 22). Chloe’s insecurities got to be a little frustrating by the end but was an overall enjoyable read

Gus & Chloe. There's something about second chances in stories.
Read the eBook but will buy a physical copy for my shelf
Would reread again and excited to read the next book in the series
