“I think you feel this just as much as I do. I think you came back because you missed me.” “Really?” I gripped the edge of my desk and laughed. “I missed you? After twenty years?” “Nineteen years, four months, and eleven days,” he said softly, never breaking eye contact. “And for the record, I missed you too, Dragonfly.”
This was such a quick, fun and light-hearted read! It's exactly what I wanted to get out of my reading slump. Gus was such a sweetheart, I liked how he immediately knew what he wanted and the way he flirted around with Chloe made me feel all the butterflies! Chloe was a strong, smart and independent woman and I liked how she did not budge on wanting her revenge lol! I could instantly feel the chemistry between these two since the very beginning and they were so good together! The only thing that bothered me though that I felt like the book was short and there should've been some more relationship development between Gus & Chloe because one second they "hated" each other and the next, they're all up in each other's business. But overall, the plot was unique and really engaging and I was hooked, so I finished this book in the matter of a few hours!

Crying on the beach over Chloe and Gus.
These two ex’s are the hottest, softest, and most delightful second chance romance that I have ever read. I loved them so much.

4.5 stars! Daphne Elliot once again slayed the world of fictional lumbersnacks.
I loved the relationship between Chloe and Gus. From the delicious tension to the adorably tender moments, all of it had me hooked. Gus took her snark and vitriol and didn’t let it deter him at all. He was all-in despite the pushback and it was both adorable and painful to watch.
I enjoyed all the cameos we got from past characters and glimpses into new stories. The town of Lovewell is a small town character and I love how close knit everyone is. I do wish we’d gotten a little bit more of the side characters but I understand that these two had a lot to work out so time spent alone was important.
There was no third act breakup which is something I appreciate about Daphne’s books but I was expecting a big scary third act conflict. Instead we got some suspicious characters and more questions that has me chomping at the bit for the next book.
Overall this was a sweet small town romance with a dash of snark and hot, hot tension that was easy to devour in one sitting. I can’t wait for book 3!
