CJ Bloom, the queen you are!! CJ absolutely nailed Chloe's character from the very first line. You could immediately hear all of Chloe's sass, and I absolutely loved it. Aaron Shedlock was also the perfect casting for Gus. He brought all the grumpy lumberjack and protective papa bear vibes, and I was here for all of it.

Gus and Chloe are ex husband and wife who are still obsessed with each other, even though their relationship ended in heartbreak. Now, they are thrown together when Chloe buys Gus' family lumber mill, and after one night of sexathon, Chloe ends up pregnant.

I absolutely loved Gus! The way he always teases Chloe, how he's not afraid to show her that he never stopped loving her, and how attentive he is with her, especially after finding out about the baby.

I also quite enjoy the mystery aspect behind what's happened at the mill and how all the pieces are starting to fall into place.

Quote: “You know you’ve got that sexy lumberjack charm. You look like you could climb a tree and rescue a litter of kittens while simultaneously building a house and delivering multiple orgasms with a single wink of those ocean- blue eyes.”

A second chance romance between exes? Yes please! Gus and Chloe fell in love and got married expecting to spend the rest of their lives together. When life happened along with some miscommunication, they are torn apart breaking both their hearts. Now twenty years later, Chloe is buying her ex-husbands family timber business, hoping to get a little revenge for him leaving her. Gus loves his families business, and is staying to help Chloe understand their business. He is angry at first, but deep down he has always wanted her back. Now he has his chance and he will do whatever it takes to prove that he is a changed man and they are meant for each other. Chloe isn't easily convinced that she can trust Gus, but her body doesn't care as it reacts to his rugged good looks and charm. Will they be able to let go of old hurts and build a new and stronger life and love together? Gus and Chloe's enemies to lovers romance was charming, heartfelt and steamy story with a bit of suspense surrounding their business. Gus and Chloe were so great together, supporting each other, making them feel worthy as business and life partners, and their chemistry was palpable. I loved all the ways that Gus convinced Chloe that she has always been the one for him, and how Chloe let down her guard to trust and love again.
Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom were brilliant as Gus and Chloe. They portray each character with a perfect balance between humor, heartwarming emotion, and sizzling passion flawlessly. You could definitely feel the chemistry that smolders between Gus and Chloe. They add so much personality to this story, making it even more enjoyable and endearing.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The story definitely took me on a journey where I found myself hating Gus just as much as Chloe did. I kept thinking there would be no way for him to redeem himself. But then he started winning me over, just like with Chloe until I couldn't deny how much I liked him too. I loved how the truth was presented in this story but I wish Daphne Elliot would've spend a bit more time having the characters deal with what really happen, and seeing their reactions once they came together to share what they found out. How they began the healing process together in that moment. The spice was very good, and I loved the banter between Chloe and Gus. The narration by Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom was exquisite. They did a fantastic job. All in all, I really enjoyed this story.

Decent writing and spice but not much of a story

The writing is pretty good at the sentence and paragraph levels, and the spice is solid, but the book doesn't have enough story (actual plot) in it for a whole novel, so it's mostly filler scenes with a massive cast of side characters and the leads' endless, repetitive inner monologues. I ended up skimming and still had a hard time finishing. (This is a small-town second-chance romance with accidental pregnancy.)

Fantastic Narration!

Book 2 Maine Lumberjacks series

This second chance romance was a great fun listen.

Chloe and Gus were together young and their families didn’t want them together. These two went through a lot in their younger years, many years later Chloe is back and looking for revenge in her ex. Forced proximity leads these two into some interesting moments and revelations.

Such a good book I really liked it and am looking forward to the rest of the series!

3.5⭐, 2.5🌶️

Okay so this wasn't my favorite book, BUT I think that's because I'm just not a major fan of second chance relationships for two MC's that have been married and divorced to each other. Chloe and Gus's past relationship with miscommunication/ lack of communication leading up to their divorce just frustrated me. And I couldn't get on the bandwagon that Gus was in looooove with Chloe and his whole family didnt know about his marriage?!

Is it an accidental pregnancy trope if she doesn't get pregnant til 60%? Cause I'd debate its not. The cover misled me in thinking it would happen very early and the whole book would be Chloe being pregnant, but obviously that wasn't the case.

Narrators: I loved Aaron and CJ's narrations - both of their voices fit perfectly and I have no complaints over their work! 🫶

Thank you Home Cooked Books for the ALC of the book in exchange for my honest review!

I adore Lovewell,Maine. I can’t get enough of the Hebert clan either. I thoroughly enjoyed the feisty Chloe and the Patient Gus. Their love story was full of fun banter, trials and ultimately true love. This is the perfect enemies to lovers. I think the accidental pregnancy trope really made this story feel deep and memorable. It had so much that I wasn’t expecting! Let’s get to the nickname “Dragonfly” so unique and fitting for Chole! Also I loved how much was put into this story, peaks at everyone! Loved that! The bonus chapter was heartwarming!
