Funny and perfect for a 8-10 year old. I'm usually not a huge Meg Cabot fan, but I really like this series!

Ms Allie Finkle is one annoying, kinda bratty girl, making a whole book told in her voice also quite annoying. Of course, I'm an adult reader and I know the series has appeal for younger audiences. Realistic fiction about friendships.

Listened as audiobook, and I really liked the narrator. She spoke just like a fourth grader would, and it made the story even funnier.

I read this book with my daughter and we both feel in love with it. I love the voice that Meg Cabot gives to her caracters, espicially Alley. She sounds like a real 4th grade girl. I should know, I live with one. Meg also does a wonderful job of capturing the real conserns of girls at that age. Unlike a lot of books for kids that creat worlds in which the kids are running around cities by themselves solving the worlds probelm, Allie Finkle's world is one where she has very little control over her life.
At the begining, when we meet her best friend Mary Kay we learn they are only "best friends" because of where they live. That there is little choice in their friendship and when Allie is told her family is moving, there is nothing she can do to change anyone's mind.
However we do see that Allie gets to chose how she acts. She wants to be a better person so she starts to make her book of rules. She is also an animal rights activiest. She saves a cat from a suit case and a turtle from becoming turtle soup.
I have to say that this book was the best I have read in this genora since Beverly Cleary's Rommona series.
