Fun, liked the worldbuilding. Not enough tension in the romance for supposed lifelong enemies, which is likely a result of this being a short novella rather than a full length book. All the romance and character development would have benefitted from having more room to breathe.

This was a quick read and it was fine. Sci fi romance set in a larger universe. You can read them as one offs. The writing style was okay, pretty confusing at times with no clear direction of who is being reference. Even tho it was extremely quick I appreciated not too much details or unnecessary descriptions. Dialogue was fine nothing too spicy. It wasn’t true enemies to lovers but they probably couldn’t get too much into it since it’s a 200 page book.

Really enjoyed this book. It's well balanced. Very interesting well done world building, would definitely read more stories set in this world by these authors.

I'm not sure if it's because I jumped into this series at this novella or if I just wasn't in the right headspace for this, but Fated Blades didn't completely work for me. It took me a bit to get up to speed about the world and the magic, and since it's a novella, it just wasn't long enough to really flesh out the characters. The instalove between Ramona and Matias was strong and they went from sworn enemies to a marriage proposal in the span of a week. It was still an exciting read, but it's probably my least favorite of the IA I've read.

I started this one on audio and the narration by Aaron Shedlock was great, but I ultimately switched to the ebook. It was too difficult at first to get my bearings and things improved a lot for me once I switched formats. I still love Ilona Andrews and their writing, but this one just felt too choppy for me.
