At the beginning of this book, I struggled to be interested. But by a quarter way through it was very intriguing and grew in intensity until the end.
Fantastic. Highly recommended to anyone with an interest in the civil war.
I enjoyed the book, but kept finding myself being dragged down by all the minute details. I finally realized I could focus more on the characters than the tactics and battles and enjoy it more so that is exactly what I did. I have to imagine a Civil War buff would feel off the charts admiration for this work but that is just not me. It feels like a bit of a victory to have actually finished it.

I actually didn't care much for it. Just a little too lofty (flowery language) for me I guess. I was surprised, and the book has rave reviews and is considered one of the best. Can't please everyone all of the time I guess.
