I think maybe listening to this on audio took away some of its punch. I think this is a really important story and I definitely think you should still read it - but I didn't find it as hard-hitting as [b:Identical|2241059|Identical|Ellen Hopkins|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388180728s/2241059.jpg|3032810]. This told a very real story - but I'm not sure it's going to stick with me.

Reading it as an adult just has my mind blown.
I listened to this one. Firstly, I wasn’t really found of the narrator’s voice. But also, it loses its impact when you listen to it rather than read a copy. My favorite thing about Ellen Hopkins’ books is the way her poetry is written on paper. She creates images with the words, so always a fun reading experience.
