It's an interesting story and which romance is difficult to classify. I don't know if it would be gay, bisexual, or straight, but it's captivating without a doubt. The beginning seemed a bit rushed, but the development made up for it to a large extent with attractive characters, a natural chemistry between Mito and Ruka, and situations full of humor. The only real complaint I have, because it's a story that takes a lot of risks in parodying the clichés of vampire romance, is the character of Ren. I really don't understand how anyone could look kindly on him.

For someone who hasn't really been keen on vampires for over 10 years this was really enjoyable. It is a fast and cute read. It is giving me love triangle, and even though I know who the female lead will go for, I didn't mind it.

First, I’d like to say thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha for sending me an ARC of this manga.
I got major Ouran vibes from this manga. I love the characters, Ruka is so interesting, and I found myself sad for Mito.
I'm so excited to hopefully pick up volume 2! This was such a good, quick read. I can't wait to read more!

(I definitely read this in 2021/2022, but apparently never recorded it here. I discovered this upon attempting to read it again, rip).

Mito has lived a rough life.
With no family and no money, she’s been living on the streets, disguised as a guy and picking up odd jobs. Unfortunately, she often finds herself fired, her handsome looks attracting too much attention but not enough customers.
She’s ready to end it all when she—literally—runs into Ruka.
Tall and handsome, Ruka works at a host cafe. He seems kind and cool, almost unnaturally attractive. Which, Mito discovers to be true—Ruka is actually a vampire. One with s secret.
See, Ruka’s not as cool as he seems. He’s actually an otaku, interested only in 2D girls. He won’t drink blood from women either.
Mito’s blood, though, proves intriguing. It tastes disgusting, Ruka discovers, but there’s a reason for that—the blood from an unloved person is bitter while that of a loved person is sweet.
By the taste of Mito’s blood, Ruka knows that Mito has probably never been loved in their whole life.
It makes Ruka want to know how sweet Mito’s blood might taste is he loved Mito.
There’s only one thing—Ruka believes that Mito is a guy!
Now, having agreed to be Ruka’s thrall and live with him in his dorm, Mito finds herself in constant danger. Any day, Ruka could discover her secret! Oh, and Ruka is a bloodthirsty vampire…. So, there’s that too.
So, this is unexpectedly better than anticipated!
I’ve been on the hunt for a vampire romance to sink my teeth into—snd, this one hits the spot.
Though it has a rather simple plot, I appreciate how unique the main character in this one are crafted. While Mito is kind of a blend of Haruhi from Ouran and Tohru from Fruits Basket, she’s still got a degree of spunk and an air of mystery. Making Ruka into a closeted nerd was also delightfully unexpected. Pairing these two together really makes for an entertaining dynamic.
I think readers who enjoy contemporary, supernatural romances may enjoy this one~
