I liked this one even better than the first! It deals with some really heavy and triggering topics though, but I think it was well handled.

4.5 rounded up! I liked watching the whole gang take down the absolute douchebag, Royce.

I do wish Liv had been more of a girls girl and hadn’t been so judgmental to her friends who had experienced sexual harassment but I’m glad there was personal growth for her by the end. And Mack and the book club were all adorable together - I loved the lack of toxic masculinity in this book!!

POV: third person omniscient, dual
You can expect: romance book club, bar owner MMC, pastry chef FMC, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, undercover operation.

CW: sexual harassment, domestic violence (past, discussed on page)

I liked this book but not as much as I liked the first in the series. I loved Liv but I also think she was incredibly frustrating throughout most of the book. This unfortunately took me out of the story because I just spent the whole time going....what the fuck is she doing??  I also felt like the Braden Mack in this book was a totally different Braden Mack from the first book. This could be because there was a little bit of a reading break for me between the first book and this one but there was that disconnect there for me that affected me reading this.

TW This book deals with sexual assault and harassment in the workplace. While I don't think the FMC handled the topic well, it was clear that this was an intentional choice to give the FMC faults and therefore the book handled it fine enough. Still, this is a major part of the book so beware if this is something that you will struggle with.

I can't remember anything particularly mindblowing or otherwise about the spice other than it was good.  I wanted a book about the chef to make me hungrier than it did though..🤔
